New holiday pay rate for temps
As of 1st April 2009 statutory holiday pay entitlement for all temporary and permanent workers in the UK increases to 28 days per year (this is pro-rata for part-time workers). This figure is inclusive of Bank Holidays. In response to this, we will be increasing our holiday pay rate from 1st April.
This means that you will be accumulating money into your ‘holiday pay fund’ at a higher rate than previously, which means you will have more to ‘spend’, thus covering you for the extra days you are now entitled to. For example, a temp earning £7.00 an hour before 1st April would accumulate holiday pay at a rate of 71p for every hour worked, and after 1st April will be accumulating holiday pay at a rate of 84p per hour. This is in addition to your wages and will be paid to you when you take leave so that you get paid even though you are not ‘at work’.
As a temp, you are entitled to take leave and it’s important for your mental and physical wellbeing that you do so, especially in long-term bookings. If you would like to take some leave, just let your White Knight consultant know in advance and we will arrange for you to be paid any holiday pay you have accrued to cover your absence.
