Domestic Abuse Housing Advocate

White Knight Recruitment are working in partnership with an innovative and unique provider of all services to those affected by domestic abuse. – OWN TRANSPORT REQUIRED.
The Role:
·To work within dispersed accommodation provided by Gosport Borough Council (GBC) and provide intensive support to the victim / survivor and their child(ren) living within the property.
·To provide high-quality crisis intervention, information, advocacy, and proactive support to victims / survivors who access the GBC Housing and Homelessness Service
·To work with colleagues at GBC to increase knowledge and develop responses to victims and survivors of domestic abuse through formal and informal training sessions, this includes colocation within the council.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
·To provide support to victims and survivors to maintain their current accommodation
·Provide safety planning for the family
·To provide 1:1 support for each member of the family and facilitate family work, through a family support plan, enabling the family to thrive as individuals and a unit.
·Support victims to understand their housing options and access or maintain suitable, safe accommodation.
 
You will have:
·Experience working with vulnerable groups
·Experience of working within a multi-agency and legislative framework
·Have a good understanding of Housing and Homelessness legislation and it application within the domestic abuse field.
·Have strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations
·Have knowledge and experience of Adult and Child Safeguarding principles, the relevant legislative framework and local and national guidance, including recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns/making referrals to statutory bodies.
