Refuge Project Worker- Women and Children
MONDAY TO FRIDAY 9AM TO 5PM – OWN TRANSPORT REQUIRED
This great charity is dedicated to providing support and interventions to empower individuals and families affected by domestic abuse. We are committed to breaking the cycle of domestic violence and creating safe environments for all.
*This post is open to female applicants only as being female is deemed to be a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
Key responsibilities of this role:
·To provide one to one support, advice and assistance to women and their children who have experienced domestic violence and abuse and are staying in the refuge
·The post-holder will work to empower and support women and children to make positive choices
·To provide advice by telephone and face to face to assist victims/survivors experiencing domestic violence to understand the services available and make choices about their own future.
·To establish resettlement services to support women and children to move on from refuge accommodation
·Contribute to promoting victim’s safety by supporting women to construct a realistic safety plan.
·The post-holder will work as part of the refuge team, and ensure a high standard of information, advice and temporary accommodation is provided.
·Working in partnership with Social Services, Education, Health etc to ensure that women and children using our services have the best possible support and opportunities
Skills, Experience and Attributes required:
· Experience of working with vulnerable groups who have been subject to domestic violence and abuse.
· Experience of recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns
· Ability to build rapport quickly with women and children participating in the service.
· Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding adults and children
· Empathetic, caring, and compassionate personality
· Ability to be proactive and show initiative when interacting with clients and agencies
· A commitment to the empowerment of all victims and survivors of domestic abuse
· Proficient user of Microsoft Word, Excel etc and able to effectively maintain Electronic Case Management
· Have excellent communication, negotiation, and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals
