Management of service delivery
Children’s Home
·To ensure that the Children’s Home provision meets with required inspection standards under OFSTED, and is delivered in accordance with the Children’s Homes Regulations (2015) in addition to being compliant with any new policy and/or guidance which may come into force.
·To ensure positive outcomes are achieved through the delivery of high-quality support.
·To work alongside the CQC Registered Manager, Head of Operations (Social Care) and Director of Social care to review, monitor and plan residential services, and to work on Improvement Plans and overall strategic direction.
Bungalow Management
·To manage and co-ordinate the operational needs for the home.
·To be responsible for ensuring health and safety guidance, policies and procedures are followed by all staff at all times.
·To be responsible for ensuring that all children and young people have a comprehensive and detailed Person Centred Plan that is regularly reviewed and updated as necessary.
·To ensure that all children and young people are suitably included and consulted in anything and everything to do with their daily living.
·To facilitate a safe, homely, welcoming environment for children and young people and to immediately address anything that may be detrimental to this.
·To work in close liaison with the other residential managers to ensure continuity, and to promote supportive teamwork.
·To be responsible for monitoring the health needs of children and young people and to work alongside the clients Clinical Services to ensure the best outcome.
Management of support
·To ensure that the staff support children and young people so that they achieve learning outcomes in line with their Learner Profile.
·To ensure there is effective liaison with the Children’s Home Activity Coordinator and school staff as necessary.
·To enable the children and young people to participate in a range of enjoyable activities.
·To ensure that privacy, dignity and respect are an integral part of the support offered to the children and young people at all times.
·To be constantly vigilant about the well-being of the children and young people, paying particular attention to health, and potential safeguarding.
·To be a Designated Safeguarding Lead, working across the Foundation as required.
·To facilitate regular meetings for the children and young people, keyworker times and other processes that allow each individual to be listened to and their needs acted upon.
Management of staff
·To provide line management, particularly in regards to OfSTED requirements to the Children’s Home Managers and Night Team Manager.
·To lead a team providing personalised support to children and young people, in line with the clients Policies and Procedures.
·To ensure that rotas are in place that meet the contracted support hours for each individual child and young person.
· To plan and facilitate regular staff meetings that are minuted, encourage staff participation, and follow through with required actions.
·To plan and implement regular staff supervision, performance management and annual appraisals, and to provide coaching and mentoring.
·To be responsible for ensuring that each staff member attends all mandatory courses and to ensure that other relevant training is undertaken as pertinent to the needs of the home and to meet organisational and legislative requirements.
·To be involved in the recruitment and interviewing of new staff.
·To ensure that robust communication systems are in place so that any new information relating to a child or young person is passed on to relevant people – such as shift plans, handovers, etc. To be responsible for ensuring this is to be done strictly in accordance with confidentiality guidelines on information sharing and on a “need to know” basis.
Management of finance and resources
·Future planning – to contribute towards a service improvement plan and to be responsible for its implementation.
·To manage finance and resources within the available budgetary information
·Following relevant guidance, be willing to manage devolved budgets as these are developed.
·To ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to and that required records are kept such that a complete audit trail can be evidenced.
·To ensure that stringent safeguarding procedures are followed regarding children and young people’s possessions and money (such as cash, bank cards etc.).
Professional Development :
·Undertake all induction and mandatory training and any other appropriate training as required.
·To develop good working relationships with all members of staff and with our Young People where appropriate.
·To participate annually in Performance Management reviews.
Other:
·At all times to work within the confines of the clients confidentiality of information policy and protect information held on both staff and pupils, both paper and electronic exercising discretion, tact and diplomacy.
·Complying at all times with the clients policies and procedures including the Code of Conduct.
·To undertake any other task that may be reasonably asked of you by your line manager.
